Passionate about supporting the holistic growth of young people, Kate Hernandez has taught science in independent schools for the past 15+ years. Currently a faculty member at Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire (USA), Kate seeks to support the intellectual growth of students while inspiring their curiosity about the natural world through scientific exploration. A boarding school person at heart, Kate relishes the opportunity to build intentional community as a Dorm Head and she strives to foster a sense of home-away-from-home. In recent years, Kate has also taken on administrator roles, serving for three years as Associate Dean of Residential Life (ADRL). As she wraps up her work in the ADRL role, Kate looks forward to stepping into the role of Dean of Academic Affairs. Kate embraces the special opportunity to blend work and family life by living on campus with her husband, two children, and dogs.
