The Movement
Explore the mission, ideas, and values at the heart of Bald Mountain Meadow's work.

Bald Mountain Meadow creates transformative learning experiences that invite students and educators to see the world differently, discover what they value, and reconnect with the joy of learning.
Our mission is to inspire a more joyful way to learn and live, rooted in place and grounded in the belief that human and ecological flourishing go hand in hand. By engaging real-world landscapes and local stakeholders, we create place-based learning experiences that empower students, educators, and schools to move outward into the world so they can lead wisely at home.

We imagine an education that prepares young people for more than the next grade, school, or achievement--one that helps them become thoughtful, grounded people who know what matters to them and are equipped to build lives that contribute to their own flourishing and the flourishing of the world around them.
Learning for life, not just achievement
VISION

Our programs are experiential, interdisciplinary, and rooted in the places where they unfold. Students learn through direct experience: exploring landscapes and communities, engaging with people and ideas, asking questions, addressing problems, and making connections across disciplines.
Creating a deeper connection to place and community
APPROACH TO LEARNING
Inspiring Joy at Every Educational Level
Transformation in the educational ecosystem takes engagement at every level, which is why Bald Mountain Meadow works with students, educators, and schools in ways that cultivate joy and inspire a new understanding of what learning can be. We create opportunities for students to discover new possibilities, support educators in bringing new ideas into their practice, and partner with schools to shape environments where those ideas can take root and grow.
Access & Opportunity
At Bald Mountain Meadow, we believe the opportunity to learn, explore, and experience the world shouldn't depend on financial circumstances. Financial aid is central to our commitment to making these experiences accessible to people from all backgrounds. We want our programs to bring together people with different perspectives, experiences, and ways of seeing the world, and we're committed to removing financial barriers that might otherwise keep them apart.
Currently, 37% of participants in Bald Mountain Meadow's open-enrollment programs receive financial aid, on average.
